This follows the published notification number G/SPS/N/ARE/102/Add.1 concerning lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products, including untreated by-heat products, poultry meat, day-old chicks and hatching eggs from Brandenburg, Niedersachsen, Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, to clarify the date of entry into force on 12 September 2017.

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Koi herpes virus disease in Italy, the United Arab Emirates is applying a temporary emergency measure to prevent the risk of introducing Koi herpes virus disease through the imports of live fish and their products, including carp fish from Italy. Therefore, MOCCAE regulates the importation of live fish and their products, including carp fish, from free establishments or free areas only in Italy. The competent authority in Italy should declare that in the accompanied health certificates for export of live fish and their products (as additional declaration).

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Red sea bream iridoviral disease in Panama, the United Arab Emirates is applying a temporary emergency measure to prevent the risk of introducing Red sea bream iridoviral disease through the imports of live fish and its products from Panama. Therefore, MOCCAE regulates the importation of live fish and its products from free establishments or free areas only in Panama. The competent authority in Panama should declare that in the accompanied health certificates for export of live fish and their products (as additional declaration).

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease in Texas in the United States of America, United Arab Emirates is applying a temporary emergency measure to prevent the risk of introducing Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease through the imports of live crustaceans and their products, including shrimps, from the United States of America. Therefore, MOCCAE regulates the importation of live crustaceans and their products, including shrimps, from free establishments or free areas only in the United States of America. The competent authority in the United States of America should declare that in the accompanied health certificates for export of live crustaceans and their products (as additional declaration).

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including untreated by-heat products, poultry meat, day-old chicks and hatching eggs from Brandenburg, Niedersachsen, Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 31) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza on 11 August 2017, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Germany is now free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease. The risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Germany is negligible now.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks and eggs originating from Croatia. This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 10) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Croatia on 7 June 2017, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Croatia is now free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease. The risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Croatia is negligible now.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks and eggs originating from Békés and Csongrád provinces in Hungary. This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 15) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza on 16 June 2017, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Hungary is now free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease. The risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Hungary is negligible now.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks and eggs originating from Lincoln province in the state of Tennessee, United States of America. This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 4) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the United States of America on 11 August 2017, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, the United States of America is now free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease. The risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Lincoln province in the state of Tennessee, United States of America is negligible now.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks and eggs originating from the Slovak Republic. This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 10) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Bratislava in the Slovak Republic on 9 August 2017, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Bratislava in the Slovak Republic is now free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza disease. The risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Bratislava in the Slovak Republic is negligible now.

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of crayfish plague disease in Ireland, the United Arab Emirates is applying a temporary emergency measure to prevent the risk of introducing crayfish plague disease through the imports of live crustaceans and their products from Ireland. Therefore, MOCCAE regulates the importation of live crustaceans and their products, including crayfish, from free establishments or free areas only in Ireland. The competent authority in Ireland should declare that in the accompanied health certificates for export of live crustaceans and their products (as additional declaration).

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 11 August 2017 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Pampanga in Philippines, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Philippines. These measures include: Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Philippines; Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Pampanga in Philippines, except heat-treated products; Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Pampanga in Philippines before 3 July 2017 were permitted.

The introductory sentence of document G/SPS/N/ARE/97/Add.1 circulated on 24 July 2017, should read:"The following communication, received on 24 July 2017, is being circulated at the request of the Delegation of the United Arab Emirates."

Please be informed that the lifting of the temporary ban will only apply to importation of day-old chicks, hatching eggs, poultry meat, and eggs from Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates, and will not apply to importation of domestic and wild birds.
