A shipment of livestock have been rejected due to positive test results for Rift Valley Fever (RVF) and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). It is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of RVF and FMD into the country. Therefore, the importation of livestock from Djibouti to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

Following the Ministry of Foreign Affairs letter No. 028755-41-100, dated 3 October 2019 (04/02/1441 H), which indicates a High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak in Chile, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of HPAI disease in the country. Therefore, the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Chile to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued Decision No. 89806 dated 6 December 2016 (07/03/1438 AH) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from the Russian Federation, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/91249 dated 7 October 2019 (08/02/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from the Russian Federation. Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in the Russian Federation. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from the Russian Federation is negligible.

Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Philippines. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Philippines is negligible.

Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in Bangladesh. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Bangladesh is negligible.

Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in South Korea. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from South Korea is negligible.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/91249 dated 7 October 2019 (08/02/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Lincolnshire, England. Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in Lincolnshire, England. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Lincolnshire, England is negligible.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/91249 dated 7 October 2019 (08/02/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Denmark. Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in Denmark. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Denmark is negligible.

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 156262 dated 19 February 2017 entitled Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Equine from Germany, due to the outbreak of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in Germany. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 1441/1291/4211 dated 2 September 2019 (03/01/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live equine originating from Germany. Based on OIE reports in the last three months, Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) has not been registered in Germany. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 12.5, the risk of importing live Equine from Germany is negligible.

Decision to ban meat from ruminants of all types from Kazhakhstan due to an outbreak of anthrax.

The Gulf Draft Technical Regulation for Maximum Residues Limits (MRLs) of Veterinary Drugs In Food, notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as G/SPS/N/ARE/178, G/SPS/BHR/201, G/SPS/N/KWT/52, G/SPS/N/OMN/98, G/SPS/N/QAT/102, G/SPS/SAU/399, and G/SPS/N/YEM/43 on 27 May 2019, has been reviewed and took into consideration the comments of WTO Members.

The Gulf Draft Technical Regulation for contaminants and toxins in food and feed, notified to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as G/SPS/N/ARE/177, G/SPS/BHR/200, G/SPS/N/KWT/51, G/SPS/N/OMN/97, G/SPS/N/QAT/101, G/SPS/SAU/395, and G/SPS/N/YEM/42 on 10 April 2019. This technical regulation has been reviewed and taken into consideration the comments of WTO members, specifically those related to the MLs of Arsenic and Aflatoxin.

Decision to ban meat from ruminants of all types from Lesotho due to Anthrax outbreak.

The proposal of amendments to the existing conditions for importing conditions regarding to importing beef meat and beef meat products from countries recognised as having a BSE risk, notified in G/SPS/N/SAU/355 (27 June 2018) was adopted as SFDA administrative order No. 67579 dated 11 July 2019 (8/11/1440 H) taking into consideration the recommendations of the SFDA food safety committee and WTO Members comments. The implementation of this order should be coming into force after export country complies with: 1. Exported beef meat and beef meat products from countries recognised as having a BSE risk wishing to export to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must be accompanied with a health certificate; 2. Procedure for lifting a temporary ban on the export of meats and their products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia notification G/SPS/N/SAU/93/Add.2; 3. Procedures for approving foreign competent control authorities and establishments interested in exporting livestock meat and poultry meat and their products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia notification G/SPS/N/SAU/92/Add.2.
