The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture lifts the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Malaysia

The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued Decision No. 126/79731/1439 dated 13 August 2018 (02/12/1439 AH) entitled "Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Bird, Hatching Egg and One-day Old Chick" originating from Malaysia, due to the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Malaysia. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/91249 dated 7 October 2019 (08/02/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Malaysia.
Based on OIE reports in the last three months, HPAI has not been registered in Malaysia. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Malaysia is negligible.
