Chaetanaphothrips signipennis

Female. Body length not given. Head about 0.8 times as long as width across cheeks, sculptured with transverse striae at vertex, faintly sculptured between compound eye, almost smooth within ocellar triangle. Ocellar setae pair I present, pair III situated at level of anterior margin of hind ocelli, distance between pair III as wide as diameter of fore ocellus. Antennae 7-segmented, length 261–276; segments III and IV with forked sense cones reaching middle of next segments; segments yellow with apex of V and VI shaded; ratio length/width of segments III–VIII: 2.9, 2.3. Pronotum with a few transverse striae near anterior margin, almost smooth at middle, with about 20 discal setae; posteromarginal setae 5 pairs, S3 developed, about 0.3 times as long as pronotal median length, S1 often slightly developed. Mesonotum smooth anteromedially, anteromedian CPS present. Metascutal median length 60–65, median pair of setae length 10–13. Forewings not described. Abdominal tergites with transverse anastomosing striae, smooth medially on II–V; tergite VIII with stippled areas reaching antecostal line and elongate to near S1 along antecostal line; tergite IX about 1.6 times as long as tergite X, with large spine-like S1 closed but not fused, arising from single short tubercle, 2 pairs of teeth-like tubercles and lateral lobe-like tubercles arranged laterally posterior to S1; tergite X almost as long as basal width, straight at each side. Abdominal sternite III with an oblong pore plate in female; pore plates on sternites III–VII length (width): 10 (68), 10 (70), 13 (68), 13 (68), 10 (60). Ovipositor about 2.2 times as long as pronotal median length.
