Morphological Features
Adult female body outline elongate oval to pyriform, slightly narrowed at anterior end. In life, dorsum flat to moderately convex, shiny dark brown to purple-black, with slight convexities along midribs. At maturity, dorsum becomes convex and sclerotized with a pattern of polygonal reticulations. Dorsal setae cylindrical, blunt and often slightly capitate. Stigmatic clefts indicated by traces of white wax secreted by spiracular discpores; anal cleft inconspicuous. No ovisac secreted; eggs deposited in a cavity beneath the abdomen.
