This decision regulates conducting an overall or partial assessment of the food control system performed by the Exporting Country Competent Authority (ECCA) with a view to assessing the system's effectiveness in the context of concluding equivalence or mutual recognition agreements.This decision allows for verifying that the ECCA food control system is science-based and attains food safety objectives aligned with NFSA's food safety and quality requirements.

This decision regulates the imported food consignments subject to the provisions of temporary release and organizes the following:1.        Obligations and responsibilities of the importer and the National Food Safety Authority;2.        Procedures of the temporary release;3.        Dealing with violations of the imported food consignments;4.        Suspension or cancellation of the food imports licensing;5.        Reducing the release time of the imported food consignments subject to the provisions of temporary release, in order to facilitate trade.

This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 110/2022 (2 pages , in Arabic) which extends the transitional period for twelve months starting from 3 April 2022 for the entry into force of clause No. 4/3/1 on "Percentage of the moisture content shall be not more than 13.5% (by weight)" in the Egyptian Standard ES 1601-1/2010.It should be noted that the Egyptian Standard ES 1601-1/2010: Essential requirements for wheat (Triticum aestivum)was formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/39 dated 2 July 2010.Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian Standard through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.Proposed date of adoption: 27 February 2022.Proposed date of entry into force: 3 April 2022.

Ministerial Decree No. 522/2021 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 2800 for "Frozen Sepiidae / Loliginidae \ (Ommastrephidae) / Octopodidae".This standard is concerned with the essential requirements and descriptive criteria for "Frozen Sepiidae / Loliginidae \ (Ommastrephidae) / Octopodidae". This standard cancels and supersedes its last edition in 2006.

Ministerial Decree No. 522/2021 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 808 for "Packaged Anchovies".This standard specifies the essential requirements and descriptive criteria for "Packaged Anchovies" prepared for human consumption and inspection and test methods. It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 100/2019 which was formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/92/Add.1 dated 3 June 2020, the Ministerial Decree No. 653/2020 which was formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/92/Add.2 dated 15 March 2021, and the Ministerial Decree No. 222/2021 which was formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/92/Add.3 dated 20 September 2021, mandated among others the earlier version and amendment of this Standard. Worth mentioning is that this standard has been formulated according to National Studies and its updates. This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 521/2021 that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8488 for "Luncheon Meat".It should be noted that the draft of this standard was formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/122 dated 16 September 2021. Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical to the Codex Standard for luncheon meat No. CXS 89-1981. Adopted in 1981. Revised in 1991, 2014, 2015. This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 522/2021 that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 7985 for "edible vegetable oils". It should be noted that the Egyptian Standard ES 7985/2013 for "edible vegetable oils" and its Ministerial Decree No. 693 for the year 2015 were formerly notified in G/SPS/N/EGY/65/Rev.1 dated 4 December 2015. Worth mentioning is that the Egyptian Standard ES 7985 is technically identical with modification to CODEX STAN 210-1999. Revised in 2001, 2003, 2009, 2017, 2019. Amended in 2005, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019 for Named Vegetable Oils. Ministerial Decree No. 219/2021 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8449 "Green Coffee Beans intended for instant coffee manufacturing".This standard is concerned with the basic requirements and descriptive standards for green coffee beans used in the production of instant coffee and not intended to be used as a final product. It should be noted that this standard cancels and replaces the requirements for instant coffee contained in Egyptian Standard ES No. 517, 1474-1/2005 "Updated 2014".

Ministerial Decree No. 219/2021 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8448 "Instant coffee" which is concerned with the basic requirements and descriptive criteria for the following coffee products: Instant coffee and Decaffeinated instant coffee.This standard does not apply to both concentrated liquid coffee extract, and coffee-based products (such as cappuccino, etc.). It should be noted that this standard cancels and replaces the requirements for instant coffee contained in Egyptian Standard ES No. 517, 1474-1/2005 "Updated 2014".

Ministerial Decree No. 222/2021 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 3493 "Products of poultry meat treated with heat".It is worth mentioning that this Standard has been formulated according to National studies.

This decision organises the maximum limits of residual veterinary drugs allowed in foods of animal origin that are handled in Egypt.

The present decision sets out binding technical rules of microbiological criteria for a specific group of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites) and their executive rules that food establishments operators shall comply with when applying public health measures, and the National Food Safety Authority is committed to ensure the extent of compliance with the stipulated rules and criteria.

Decree No 6 of 2021 sets the technical rules on the maximum permissible limits for pesticide residues and accidental residue in food products, whether in plant or animal origin, and the basic requirements for evaluating the results of the analysis of pesticide residues in and on foods for the purpose of monitoring levels of pesticide residues therein.

This draft standard specifies the basic requirements and the descriptive standards for luncheon meat and luncheon poultry meat. This standard cancelled and superseded both of ES 1114/2005 concerned with "Luncheon Meat" and ES 1696/2005 concerned with "Luncheon Poultry Meat".
