Diaspidiotus ostreaeformis

First instar nymph: body oval, newly hatched individuals yellow. Male length 266–280 μm, width 173–175 μm; female length 275–300 μm, width 183–185 μm. Fully grown male length 360–450 μm, width 280–340 μm; female length 420–430 μm, width 331–342 μm. Antenna 5-segmented; total length in male 66.9 μm, in female 72.7 μm. Legs well developed; leg III total length in male 87.9 μm, in female 99.0 μm. Clypeolabral shield 63.9 μm long, 38.6 μm wide. Marginal setae: 3 on head, 2 on each thoracic segment, 1 on each of abdominal segments 1–8. Submedian setae: 3 on head, 1 each on meso- and metathorax, 1 on each of abdominal segments 1–2. Males possess a pair of dorsal submedian setae on abdominal segments 1 and 2; these setae absent in females. Segment V annulated with 5 stout setae, 2 very long terminal setae, and 2 invaginated minute setae. Second instar: test grey, slightly convex. Male test nearly circular in young, broadly oval with age; female test circular. Body length 960–1410 μm, width 700–940 μm (slide-mounted male 400–805 μm, female 390–720 μm). Head, pro-, meso- and metathorax not clearly differentiated. Males have three pairs of ventral submedial setae on head between antennae and anterior margin of clypeolabral shield; females lack these setae. Males have a pair of dorsal submedial setae on abdominal segments 1 and 2; females lack them. Adult female: body length 0.71–0.75 mm, width 0.62–0.64 mm; median lobes width 47–51 μm; anal opening width 9.5–10.5 μm.
