New Zealand MPI is seeking comments on the proposed changes to the import requirements for the following products specified in the draft Food Notice for consultation: Part 7: Dried spices;Part 8: Milk and dairy products;Part 9: Bivalve molluscan shellfish (BMS) and BMS products;Part 10: Tahini and sesame paste products.Further explanations can be found in the discussion paper provided.

This proposal proposes to: - Prohibit the retail sale of a food that is caffeine and prohibit the addition of caffeine to foods for retail sale unless expressly permitted;- Expressly permit the addition of caffeine to formulated supplementary sports foods (FSSF), subject to compositional, packaging and labelling requirements.This proposal considers whether measures are required in relation to the regulation of caffeine in the Australian and New Zealand food supply in order to protect public health and safety. In particular the proposal is examining: the addition of caffeine to Formulated Supplementary Sports Foods (FSSF), foods in the general food supply and the extent of risk posed to vulnerable sub-populations.All proposals relating to changes in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, must be assessed in the context of the following objectives: (a) the protection of public health and safety; (b) the provision of adequate information relating to food to enable consumers to make informed choices; and (c) the prevention of misleading or deceptive conduct. Adoption date of regulation: 6 November 2025This addendum concerns the issuance and entry into force of the previously notified import health standard Fresh Cut Flowers and Foliage for Decorative Purposes.This import health standard was notified in G/SPS/N/NZL/775 dated 19 November 2024 with the adoption, publication, and entry into force date of 1 March 2025. The new date of adoption, publication, and entry into force is 6 November 2025.
