Morphological Features

Body vermiform, slender, with fine transverse striations and distinct lateral fields. Females are approximately 600–700 µm long; males are slightly smaller and curved ventrally at the posterior end. The lip region is set off, with six amalgamated lips. The stylet is short (10–13 µm), with small basal knobs. The median bulb of the pharynx is large and oval, with a distinct valve; the esophageal glands overlap the intestine. The excretory pore is located posterior to the esophageal bulb. The ovary is outstretched anteriorly, with oocytes in single or multiple rows. The vulva is located at 60–75% of the body length from the anterior end, with a small flap. The female tail is conoid, ending in a characteristic star-shaped mucro (with 2–3 points). Males have a strongly curved tail with rose-thorn-shaped spicules. Lateral fields show four lines under light microscopy but six lines under scanning electron microscopy.
