Hippotion celerio

Adult: Head dorsally covered with brown and a white line anterior to eyes; ventral part white. Thorax dorsal part brown with ash white on center; ventral part dominantly white. Prothorax 0.5–0.6 cm, mesothorax 0.3 cm, metathorax 0.3 cm. Dorsal thorax with two yellowish bands from head to third thoracic segment. Forewing 3.1–3.3 cm, dorsal part dark with several white lines. Hindwing 2.0–2.1 cm, dorsal part with discal cell, yellow and pink coloration, black bands on basal and sub-median part. Abdomen 2.1–2.3 cm, dorsal part brown with golden stripes on sides and center; ventral part white with black dots. Legs: true legs present. Antennae: male and female shown. Frenulum present in both sexes. Larva (4th instar): Body slender, cylindrical, smooth, pale yellow, after feeding thorax and part of abdomen turn pale greenish with long black horn. Head green with setae (chalaza). Eyespots on 1st (large) and 2nd (smaller) abdominal segments. Prolegs with crochets (biordinal homoideous mesoseries). Spiracles oval, brownish with dark vertical center. Caudal horn present.
