The notified draft Mexican Official Standard establishes the sanitary provisions and specifications to be met by processed meat products and meat processing establishments. It is binding throughout Mexican territory for natural and legal persons involved in the processing or importation of meat products.

Pursuant to the Decision establishing the module of phytosanitary requirements for the importation of goods regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, in relation to plant health (Acuerdo por el que se establece el módulo de requisitos fitosanitarios para la importación de mercancías reguladas por la Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentación, en materia de sanidad vegetal), published in the Mexican Official Journal on 7 February 2012, the current phytosanitary requirements for the importation into Mexico of Brussels sprout (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera) seeds originating in and coming from France have been amended on the basis of an update to the phytosanitary requirements and a pest risk re-assessment.

Please be advised that, at the end of the relevant public consultation period, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Government of Mexico published the replies to the comments received on the draft amendment to Mexican Official Standard NOM-144-SEMARNAT-2012, "Establishing the internationally recognized phytosanitary measures for wood packaging material used in international trade in goods and merchandise", which is to become Mexican Official Standard NOM-144-SEMARNAT-2015, "Establishing internationally recognized phytosanitary measures and marking requirements for wood packaging material used in international trade in goods and merchandise". Please be advised that Mexican Official Standard NOM-082-SAG-FITO/SSA1-2017: "Maximum residue levels. Technical guidelines, authorization procedure and review", has been formally approved. The Standard establishes technical guidelines and procedures for authorizing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for chemical pesticides for agricultural use, for registration and usage purposes. The following will be exempt from compliance with this Standard: Pesticides used for ornamental plants, tobacco and soil (pre-sowing application only); those applied in empty storage areas, trucks and containers; and those for which the exemption is justified under applicable legal provisions.
