The notified text provides for the cancellation of the existing registration and the refusal of applications for the registration and the renewal of the registration of all products containing the active ingredient colistin and colistin salts in their formulas. It also prohibits the importation and manufacture of these products.

The notified Resolution establishes mandatory phytosanitary measures for the importation of coconut (Cocos nucifera) seeds and of plants for planting (other than bulbs, tuberous roots, corms, rhizomes, seeds and roots) of host species, from any country in which the pest Raoiella indica is present.

The notified text establishes the list of regulated pests. This list is based on international standards, notably ISPM No. 19: "Guidelines on lists of regulated pests" (2003, FAO, Rome), as well as on Costa Rican Technical Regulation (RTCR) No. 379/2000: Procedures for the implementation of phytosanitary requirements for the importation of plants, plant products and other plant material capable of harbouring pests, Decree No. 29.473-MEIC-MAG, and the respective technical guides, and on pest interceptions at entry points, technical data sheets, and pest risk analysis (PRA) for specific pests and pests of national interest. This notification replaces notification G/SPS/N/CRI/196.

The notified Resolution orders the temporary suspension of imports from Chile to Costa Rica of the goods specified in Chapter 10.4 "Infection with avian influenza viruses" of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) (live birds, fertile eggs and products and by-products of avian origin) in which trade is authorized and which were produced or obtained 21 calendar days prior to the beginning of the outbreak of notifiable avian influenza reported by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG). This excludes products that may be subject to mitigation measures at the place of origin, in accordance with the above Chapter of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, for which the sanitary certificates accompanying imports must indicate the mitigation measures to which the avian products were subject, including irradiation treatment, cooking time and temperature, pasteurization, and sterilization. SENASA will resume trade in the aforementioned goods three months after the application of the measures established in Article 10.4.3, subparagraph 2, of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
