Dubai Municipality is improving and facilitating the mechanism of issuing export health certificates for the export of food products, which will enable the owners of food companies and investors to print the export health certificates electronically from the Dubai Municipality website. Also the health certificate will include a QR code to check the validation of the health certificate, or it can be checked by entering the document number through the following link: (https://login.dm.gov.ae/wps/portal/home_arAttached is a file which includes the steps on how to verify and check the validity of export health certificates, as well as a copy of the updated health certificates for the export of food products through the Dubai Municipality.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products originating from Flevoland in Netherlands on 1 July 2018  .This follows the publishing of the Final report (Follow-up report No. 2) of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Netherlands on 24 April 2018, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 13 June 2018 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Kurskaya Oblast in Russia. United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Kurskaya Oblast. These measures include:1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by‑products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Kurskaya Oblast. 2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Kurskaya Oblast, except heat-treated products. 3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Kurskaya Oblast in Russia before 18 May 2018 were permitted.

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 16 May 2018 regarding the outbreak of Rift Valley fever virus in Letsemeng in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing the Rift Valley fever virus through the imports of all kinds of live ruminants and their untreated products from South Africa. These measures include: 1. Temporary ban on the importation of all kinds of live ruminants and their untreated by-products, originating from South Africa; 2. Temporary ban on ruminants' meat and its untreated products from Letsemeng in South Africa, except heat-treated products; 3. Consignments of ruminants' meat shipped from Letsemeng in South Africa before 30 March 2018 were permitted.

Following the information published on the World Health Organization (WHO) website on the registration of the Nipah virus (NiV) outbreak in Kerala, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing the Nipah virus (NiV) through the imports of all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables from Kerala.

The United Arab Emirates is lifting the ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products, including poultry meat, day-old chicks and eggs, originating from Landes, Haute-Vienne, Aveyron, Gers, Dordogne, Pyrenees- Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrenees, Lot, Haute-Garonne and Tarn provinces in France starting from 14 May 2018.

This Ministerial Decree aims to set out the phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into the United Arab Emirates of Spodoptera frugiperda hosts originating in and coming from infected countries. The amendment was on the requirements for the importation of vegetables and fruits and became as follows: "Phytosanitary measures for fresh fruits and vegetables listed in Annex (2) which are imported from countries where the insect is registered: To prove in the additional declaration of phytosanitary certificates that the consignment is free from fall armyworm on the basis of visual inspection."

United Arab Emirates has stated a new procedure to export frozen and chilled poultry meat and its products from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates to ensure the safety of the imported food products. The procedure mainly involves the following points: 1. All frozen and chilled poultry meat and its products should comply with the United Arab Emirates standards for requirements of microbiological criteria for food stuffs UAE.S 1016, especially regarding the salmonella bacteria, as the poultry meat and its products should be tested in order to ensure that they are free from pathogenic salmonella, specifically Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella Enteritidis 2. The competent authority in Brazil should declare, in the accompanying health certificates for export of meat and meat products to the United Arab Emirates, that the meat/meat products are tested and found free from Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella Enteritidis, as an additional declaration.

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 15 March 2018 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Overijssel, Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Overijssel. These measures include: Continuation of the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Netherlands; Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Overijssel, Netherlands, except heat-treated products; Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Overijssel, Netherlands before 4 February 2018 were permitted.
