The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued the Decision No. 403639/79731/1440 dated 28 January 2019 entitled Temporary Ban of Importation of Live Equine from Bulgaria, due to the outbreak of Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) in Bulgaria. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued the Decision No. 1441/1291/263723 dated 9 December 2019 (12/04/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live equine originating from Bulgaria.Based on OIE reports in the last three months, Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA) has not been registered in Bulgaria. In compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 12.5, the risk of importing live Equine from Bulgaria is negligible.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live equine originating from Austria.

This Technical regulation applies to all food products that contain added sugar, except the following: - Drinking soda that contains natural and/or artificial sweeteners such as Diet, Lite, Zero, etc.; - Food for special dietary uses. On 26 April 2019, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia notified WTO (SPS) about this Technical Regulation (G/SPS/N/SAU/396). Due to the valuable comments from many WTO Members, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has withdrawn this Technical regulation in order to facilitate international trade.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has subsequently issued Decision No. 1441/1291/214648 dated 19 November 2019 (23/03/1441 AH), lifting the temporary ban on the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks originating from Chile. Based on OIE reports and in compliance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Chapter 10.4, the risk of importing live birds, hatching eggs and one-day old chicks from Chile is negligible.

Following the OIE report, ref. No. 42, Vol. 32 dated 13 October 2019, which indicates that a Rift Valley Fever (RVF) outbreak has occurred in Sudan, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Aribia to prevent the entry of RVF disease into the country. Therefore, the importation of livestock from Sudan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended.
