The notified Resolution establishes the temporary suspension of imports from the Argentine Republic of live birds, including day-old chicks, hatching eggs, eggs for human consumption, avian genetic material, fresh poultry meat, meat products of avian origin, egg products and non-treated feathers and down. Moreover, the measure provides as follows:• The suspension will remain in force until such time that an updated sanitary risk assessment has been carried out by the Directorate-General of Livestock Services, in accordance with established international protocols.• The suspension does not apply to safe commodities, or to meat products of avian origin and egg products that have undergone heat treatment ensuring the inactivation of the virus, as provided for in Chapter 10.4, "Infection with high pathogenicity avian influenza viruses", of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code.G/SPS/N/URY/106- 2 - • The suspension does not apply to fresh poultry meat with production dates before 22 January of the current year, provided that such meat has remained segregated from other batches that do not have the same sanitary status.• Imports of poultry genetics from compartments authorized by SENASA and approved by the DGSG will be permitted, provided that the additional measures required are met, in order to mitigate the risk of introducing the virus into Uruguayan territory.Further details can be found in the document attached to this notification.
The notified Resolution highlights the mandatory nature of the provisions of Article 10 of Section 6 of Chapter 13 of Decree No. 315/994, of 5 July of 1994, (National Food Regulations), for imports of dressed carcasses and meat of poultry, in reference to the shelf life of these products. In this regard, companies that have registered monographs and labels for dressed carcasses and cuts of meat of poultry, authorized by the Directorate-General of Livestock Services, are requested to update them to comply with the aforementioned Regulation.In the case of companies that registered monographs and labels for dressed carcasses and cuts of meat of poultry, authorized by the Directorate-General of Livestock Services, before 16 November 2023, they are required to re-register in order to comply with the aforementioned Regulation and follow the procedures set forth in Resolution No. 280/023, of 16 November 2023, of the Directorate-General of Livestock Services, on how to submit import and border-crossing requests.Companies that have registered monographs and labels for dressed carcasses and meat of poultry shall have a period of 30 working days, starting from the date of the Resolution, to give effect to the provisions contained therein.Requests that are being processed and import resolutions authorized for the cited products as of the date of this Resolution shall remain valid, and be processed.G/SPS/N/URY/105- 2 -
The notified Resolution temporarily suspends imports from Spain of live swine, genetic material, swine meat, fresh swine by-products and derivatives. The measure will remain in force until an updated sanitary risk assessment has been carried out, in accordance with established international protocols.The Resolution also provides that the present suspension of imports shall not apply to safe commodities that have undergone treatment ensuring the inactivation of the virus, in accordance with Section 15 (Suidae), Chapters 15.1.22 and 15.1.23 of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Terrestrial Animal Health Code.With respect to imports of swine meat, fresh swine by-products and derivatives, only those produced before 7 November 2025 will be authorized to enter the territory of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
The objectives of the notified draft text are twofold: to approve the mandatory procedure setting out the requirements for the temporary or definitive importation of equine animals and the steps to be followed in this regard; and to approve the mandatory procedure governing the activities of the Official Veterinary Service (SVO), and the requirements for the accreditation of quarantine facilities and units authorized to accommodate equine animals imported temporarily.The above-mentioned procedures provide details concerning related legislation and the responsibilities of the SVO. They also establish definitions, describe modalities for importing equine animals, provide a guide to the import process and the registration process for importing companies and a description of the quarantine process, and set out the conditions to be met by quarantine facilities for imported equine animals.
The notified draft resolution prohibits the use of the substances specified in the document, which are considered potentially carcinogenic, in the preparation of "emulsifiable concentrate" (EC) formulation phytosanitary products for agricultural use.
The notified draft resolution prohibits all uses of chlorpyrifos, except when used to control certain pests, specified in point 1), on maize (corn) and sorghum crops.
The notified draft Resolution prohibits the importation, renewal and registration of phytosanitary products containing carbosulfan, and grants a period of 180 days from its entry into force to market duly declared stocks.

The notified draft resolution establishes the maximum values permitted for arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury and tin in different categories of food. It sets out general and specific implementing criteria, it defines how the limits are determined for processed, frozen or composite products, and it includes tables with the maximum values by food type (cereals, meat, fish, dairy products, beverages, fruit, vegetables, etc.) It also repeals the previous regulations (GMC Resolutions No. 12/11 and No. 18/21).

Resolution DGSG/No. 009A/2025 of the Directorate-General of Livestock Services - Temporary suspension of imports from Germany of live animals, products of animal origin and genetic material of animal species susceptible to foot and mouth diseaseUruguay hereby advises that Resolution DGSG/No. 081/2025 of the Directorate-General of Livestock Services repeals Resolution DGSG/No. 009A/2025 of the Directorate-General of Livestock Services - Temporary suspension of imports from Germany of live animals, products of animal origin and genetic material of animal species susceptible to foot and mouth disease. Moreover, it continues the temporary suspension of such products coming from the containment zone established by the Federal Republic of Germany and recognized by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The notified draft Regulation, submitted for public consultation, regulates the use of different phosphates as stabilizers in dairy-based desserts, with their respective maximum concentration limits.
The notified draft Resolution, submitted for public consultation, proposes including acetic acid (INS 260) as an acidulant, with a concentration level of 2g/100g and a note "for treating natural casings only", for food category 8: Meat and meat products, subcategories 8.2.1.2 Cured sausages and 8.2.1.3 Cooked sausages, regulated by GMC Resolution No. 63/18.
The notified draft Regulation, submitted for public consultation, replaces section 3 of the Annex to Common Market Group (GMC) Resolution No. 25/02, amending the maximum applicable limits for aflatoxins in ground-nuts and maize (corn) on the basis of the revision of those thresholds in the framework of the Codex Alimentarius.
The notified draft Resolution, open for public consultation, proposes the inclusion of beta-carotene from Blakeslea trispora, INS No. 160a(iii), as a colouring agent and with specific maximum concentration levels, for use as a food additive in the following food categories: 3. Edible ices; 5. Confectionery (caramels, pastilles, candies, chewing gum, nougat, cocoa products and products containing cocoa, chocolates, boiled sweets, glazes, fillings and other similar products); 13. Sauces and condiments; and 19. Desserts. The assignment of additives and their maximum concentrations for these food categories are regulated by GMC Resolutions No. 53/98, 54/98, 07/06 and 08/06, respectively.
The draft Decree adopts the harmonized animal health requirements of the MERCOSUR States Parties in order to regulate the importation into Uruguay of frozen bovine and buffalo semen, as well as the model International Veterinary Certificate.
The notified draft Resolution prohibits the use of the active ingredient chlorpyrifos on a range of crops specified therein (blueberries, onions, plums, peaches, sunflowers, lemons, mandarin oranges, apples, pears, grapefruits, sorghum and tomatoes) in order to minimize risks to human health and non-target organisms.
