Ceroplastes cirripediformis

Adult female body length 3.8 mm (range 2.6–4.1), width 2.4 mm (range 1.8–3.2), height 2.0 mm (range 0.8–3.2). Wet wax dirty yellowish white, rectangular to oval in dorsal view, hemispherical laterally, without horn, divided into 1 dorsal and 6 lateral plates, with nuclei. Dorsal setae mainly capitate, each 2.9–8.8 µm long, mostly slightly longer than width of basal socket (4–5 µm wide), sparse throughout dorsum but more numerous on marginal areas. Marginal setae each about 2 or more times longer than submarginal setae, with 5–7 between eyespots. Stigmatic setae conical to lanceolate, each cleft with a group of 27–59 setae in 3 or 4 irregular rows, most setae 16–22 µm long but with 3–5 larger setae near centre of each group, each 24–31 µm long and 25–30 µm wide at base. Anal plates little longer than wide, each plate 100–105 µm long, combined width 95–98 µm; each plate with 3 large dorsal setae measuring 38–40 µm, 41–45 µm and 35–37 µm. Anal lobes each with 3–6 larger setae, each 40–50 µm long. Antenna 6 to 8 segmented, usually with 7 segments. Ventral setae with a pair of preopercular setae, each 50–56 µm long; submarginal setae about twice as frequent as marginal setae, each 6–9 µm long. Multilocular disc-pores abundant around genital opening and across preceding segments, extending anteriorly onto thorax.
