Pissodes punctatus

Mature larva. Body light brown. Head capsule oval, width/length in anterior view 1.00–1.04; dorsal surface with a pale area on central 0.25–0.33 of posterior portion of frons and either side of epicranial suture, rarely unicolorous or with faint stripes around des1. Setae des1 and des2 at head capsule mid-length, des3–des5 on lateral third of margin of frontal suture. Antenna with a conspicuous, elongate sensorium, as long as wide at base or longer, with truncate apex. Postmentum membranous, with an irregularly elongate-oval pigmented area on each side of premental sclerite. Pronotum with pigmentation pale, present on mediodorsal ¼ to ½ of sclerite, rarely only a faintly pigmented stripe near anteromedial margin. Pedal area ovoid, unpigmented to slightly pigmented, slightly convex with distinct margin in most specimens, lacking microtrichia, larger than pleural sclerite. Prodorsum of abdominal segments with posterior margin medially emarginated, prodorsum lens-shaped, bi-convex. Spiracular area oval, with anteroventral depression not to lightly pigmented, merged with deep groove between postdorsum and epipleurum.
