Morphological Features
Body wingless; upper surfaces roughly sculptured and closely squamose. Beak longer than head, enlarged at the alae, depressed on median line and at sides; mandibles beneath not acutely toothed. Eyes vertical, elongate oval, pointed beneath. Antennae with scape clavate, not greatly overlapping front of eyes; funicle 7-jointed, with first two joints elongate; club elongate oval. Prothorax very tuberculate above and at sides; anterior lobes without vibrissae, almost completely covering eyes; base truncate, apex convex. Elytra with rounded humeri; striation irregular, alternate intervals multituberculate. Legs stout; femora and tibiae stout; tibiae mucronate; tarsi with third joint bilobed; claws simple. General color brown, often with bronzy scales.
