Helopeltis antonii

Adult: body length 6.63–6.95 mm (male) or 7.65–7.92 mm (female); body width 1.61–1.73 mm (male) or 1.78–1.95 mm (female). Body elongated; head black; compound eyes reddish; thorax yellowish at emergence, later darkening to black; forewings black, hindwings brownish-black, wings extending beyond abdomen. Pronotum with three color morphs: black, dark red, and brownish black. Abdomen with eight segments, first segment wider than subsequent ones; a white band on sternum extending to fifth abdominal segment in females and to sixth in males. Antennae reddish-brown; legs long. Nymphs: first instar light orange with red eyes, long legs, and reddish-brown antennae; second instar dark orange with developing scutellar horn; third to fifth instars brownish with progressively developing wing pads; fifth instar wing pads fully developed, extending past fourth abdominal segment.
