Morphological Features
Virions are roughly spherical to isometric, enveloped, 70–120 nm in diameter, with a dense core surrounded by a lipid membrane and spike projections on the surface. Particles occur in clusters within membrane-bound cisternae (likely of the endoplasmic reticulum) in infected plant cells. Early infection also shows dark amorphous viroplasm and doubly enveloped particles (100 nm) in the cytoplasm.
