Scolytus schevyrewi

Adult male: body length 2.5–3.5 mm, elongate, moderately convex; integument dark brown to black, elytra with a distinct pale band across middle (often abraded). Frons flattened, weakly longitudinally aciculate, with dense patch of long, yellow, hair-like setae above mandibles; epistoma feebly emarginated. Antennal club flattened, thinner on apical half, irregularly ovoid, setose with partial septum and two arcuate sutures. Pronotum smooth, shining, punctures on disc fine, shallow, moderately abundant, larger and coarser laterally and on apical constriction; apical and anterolateral margins with sparse, erect, yellow setae. Elytra with sides subparallel on basal half, narrowing to moderately rounded, smooth apex; striae with uniseriate punctures; interstrial punctures uniseriate, equal in size to those of striae, bearing sparse short, semi-erect yellow setae; scutellar notch densely covered in recumbent white setae (may be abraded). Venter: ventrite 5 longer than combined lengths of ventrites 3 and 4; second ventrite with low median carina (variable, may be absent). Female similar to male except frons more flattened, setae sparser and shorter.
