Morphological Features

Adult: wingspan 11–20 mm; forewings light gray, finely speckled with black, with distinct transverse lines, the first whitish, almost straight, and the second purplish-gray, representing a strong angle posteriorly; thorax and abdomen gray dorsally and light gray ventrally; abdomen bright grayish-white; antennae simple, finely ciliated in both sexes (male plumose, female filiform, about ¾ body length). Larva: body light yellow, turning darker while feeding; later instars dark brown with pale brown lateral bands on pleura and notum; a dorsal, medial, longitudinal line from prothorax to end of abdomen; head capsule width growth follows Dyar's rule; five instars. Pupa: 5–6 mm long, initially greenish, becoming reddish-brown to dark red, with fine hairs on body.
