Atopomyrmex mocquerysi

Worker. Body length variable with size. Color very variable, from dull yellowish brown to blackish brown, most commonly bicolored with head and alitrunk reddish and gaster dark brown to black; sometimes head alone reddish, or head and gaster dark with alitrunk lighter. Head shape changes with size; dorsum with scattered shallow pits, surface between them smooth to densely reticulate-punctate. Frontal carinae increase in length and strength with worker size; in largest workers carinae reach back beyond eye level, divergent to eye level then almost parallel, with prominent laterally projecting flange. Antennal scrobes absent in small workers, better defined with increased size. Eyes relatively constant in size relative to head width. Pronotal dorsum longitudinally rugose at least centrally; pronotal sculpture continues onto mesonotum in smaller workers, but in larger individuals mesonotal sculpture reduced, dorsum feebly punctulate or smooth and shining. Propodeal spines very variable in length, thickness, and curvature. Petiolar teeth conspicuous, variable in length and thickness. Petiole, postpetiole, and first gastral tergite finely and very densely reticulate-punctate to densely shagreened. Dorsal surfaces of body without standing hairs.
