Procedures and arrangement of regulations in the management of genetically modified organisms: a) to ensure an adequate level of protection in the field of safe development, transfer, handling and use of genetically modified organisms resulting from biotechnology that may have an adverse effect on health and the environment; and b) to establish a transparent and a predictable process to review and make decisions on genetically modified organisms.

Ban on the Import of Tilapia Species and Ornamental fishes, including gametes due to the emergence of Tilapia Lake Virus that is associated with significant mortalities in farmed tilapia. Cases have been reported across Africa, Asia and South America that the Virus represents a huge risk to the global tilapia industry.
