Sesamia calamistis, the African pink stem borer, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is distributed throughout sub-Saharan Africa and on Indian Ocean islands. The larvae are agricultural pests that affect rice, maize, sorghum, and sugarcane crops. They have been recorded feeding on pearl millet and other grass species crops in the Ivory Coast and other parts of West Africa.

Morphological Features
Forewing length: male 27–33 mm (mean 29.2 mm, N=20). The species is variable in size, wing patterns and colours depending on geographical origin. Head smooth, light brown; prothoracic shield pale salmon beige. Body ground colour salmon pink; pinacula and caudal plate pale yellow-brown. Ovipositor lobes at least 2.5 times longer than wide, dorsal surface bearing numerous short and stout setae, ventral side of each lobe slightly curved and tooth-shaped. Lamina ventralis with an elongate carinal crest, produced into paired lateral lobes. Last instar larvae: head smooth, light brown; prothoracic shield pale salmon beige; body ground colour salmon pink; pinacula and caudal plate pale yellow-brown.
