Anastrepha obliqua is a species of fruit fly. It is the most important fruit fly pest of mangoes in Neotropics and attacks a wide range of other spicy fruits. A. obliqua is widespread in Mexico, Central and South America and the West Indies. It is sometimes called the West Indian fruit fly in English.

Morphological Features
Adults of Anastrepha obliqua are yellowish-brown flies. The frons lacks brown markings except the ocellar tubercle. The mesonotum is yellow/orange with three pale postsutural vittae, and the scutellum is entirely yellow. The wing exhibits the typical Anastrepha pattern: S-band complete, C-band and V-band present, with the V-band proximal arm connected anteriorly to the S-band along vein R4+5; the V-band distal arm is complete. The aculeus (ovipositor tip) is 1.3–1.75 mm long, with tip length 0.15–0.25 mm and width 0.08–0.12 mm; lateral margins of the aculeus tip are not curved dorsally. The aculeus tip has lateral serrations on more than two-thirds of its length, distinguishing it from A. fraterculus and A. suspensa.
