Dacus ciliatus

Male: Face fulvous with a pair of small circular black spots. Scutum predominantly red-brown; lateral and medial postsutural vittae absent. Scutellum yellow, without dark patterning except basal dark margin. Wings with cells bc and c colourless, without almost complete covering of microtrichia, only in outer corner of cell c; cell bm without microtrichia; narrow fuscous costal band complete, shallow, expanded into a small spot just beyond apex of R4+5; narrow anal streak variable. Abdomen oval, predominantly fulvous to red-brown, terga I–V all fused, terga III and IV unmarked, sometimes III and rarely IV with isolated sublateral dark spot; tergum III with pecten. Epandrium and surstyli distinctly bulb-shaped (posterior view); lateral surstylus broad, shorter than epandrium; posterior lobe 3× longer than anterior lobe, hook-shaped; phallus 2 mm long excluding glans (0.3 mm). Female: As male in general colour patterns; mid- and hindfemora tending to bicoloured (pale basally, reddish-brown apically); ovipositor basal segment red-brown, dorsoventrally flattened and tapering posteriorly; aculeus apex needle shaped; oviscape 1.21 mm, eversible membrane 2.1 mm; aculeus 1.43 mm tip pointed with three pairs of preapical setae.
