Anastrepha curvicauda

Adult. Body length not given; mesonotum 3.2–4.5 mm long, 1.8–2.7 mm wide. Wing elongate, 9.1–12.6 mm long, with costal band yellow, unbroken along entire anterior margin, covering cells bc, c, sc, pterostigma, entire width of cells r1, r2+3, base of cell br, and anterior half of cell r4+5; pterostigma longer in females (Pt-ratio 5.5–7.7×), strongly expanded in males (Pt-ratio 4.1–5.1×); cell cua entirely yellow. Head: frons dark brown on lower ventral third, yellow dorsally; ocellar triangle and vertex entirely black forming band connecting eyes; face yellow with dark marking along lower margin; first flagellomere elongate, about 2.7–3.2 times length of pedicel; medial and lateral vertical setae conspicuous, 1–3 frontal setae weak, ocellar and orbital setae absent. Thorax: postpronotal lobe and scutum non-microtrichose except along postsutural margin; scutum with separate submedial stripes; black spot on posterior margin of scutum extending anteriorly; presutural sublateral spot ovoid; anepimeral vertical stripe from wing base to ventral edge; macrosetae reduced: 2 notopleurals, 1 postsutural supra-alar, 1 postalar, 1 intra-alar, 1 dorsocentral, 1 apical scutellar; postpronotal, acrostichal and basal scutellar setae absent. Legs: foreleg yellow, tibia and 1–2 tarsomeres darker on dorsal margin. Abdomen: syntergite 1+2 petiolate, long, nearly half of abdominal length, constricted anteriorly, brown spotted basally to mostly brown with apical third or less yellow; oviscape arched ventrally 45–60°, length 11.3–23.6 mm; aculeus tip tapering gradually to apex, 0.42–0.47 mm long, lateral margins with 44–60 minute serrations occupying 41–51% of tip length.
