Morphological Features
On infected needles, conidiophores are simple or occasionally branched, 1- to 2-septate, pale brown to olivaceous brown, smooth-walled. Conidia are olivaceous brown to grayish brown, verrucose (warty), thick-walled, mildly curved, allantoid to fusiform, 1- to 5-septate (mostly 3-septate), measuring 20–45 × 3.5–5 µm. In culture on malt extract agar, colonies are slow-growing, 2.5–3 mm diameter after 2 weeks at 25°C, with agar becoming yellow from diffusible pigments. Teleomorph (sexual stage) was not observed in the Korean study.
