Individuals can grow to 0.4 m. Holoparasite of Artemisia spp. Distribution: Europe, SW Asia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, N India, Nepal, China (Gansu, Hebei, Jilin, Nei Mongol, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Xizang), Mongolia.
