United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Syddanmark in the Region of Southern Denmark

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Syddanmark in the Region of Southern Denmark, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Syddanmark in the Region of Southern Denmark.These measures include all measures taken in the issued emergency notification G/SPS/N/ARE/216 and its corrigendum and addenda 1 and 2 with one additional measure:- Consignments of table eggs and poultry meat and their products from Syddanmark in the Region of Southern Denmark that were produced after 13 June 2021 are not allowed to be exported to the United Arab Emirates.
This follows the publishing of the follow-up Reports of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Denmark, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
