United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Belgium

Following the notifications published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) in Belgium, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Belgium.These measures include:- Continue the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs from Belgium until the health situation stabilizes;- Apply the "mechanism of importing falcons from high-risk countries" on importing from Belgium;- Allow the importation of heat-treated by-products from Belgium;- Allow the importation of non-heat-treated poultry products (untreated meat and untreated egg products) from Belgium;- Continue to allow the importation of heat-treated poultry products (treated meat and treated egg products) from Belgium.This follows the publishing of the follow-up reports of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Belgium, and in compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
