Acuerdo No. 546: Disposiciones para minimizar el riesgo de introducción y diseminación del virus de la Fiebre Aftosa (Decision No. 546: Provisions to minimize the risk of the entry and spread of the foot-and-mouth disease virus)

The notified text sets out the requirements governing the importation and transit of cattle, sheep, swine and other cloven-hoofed animals, and products or by-products thereof, that are susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). The requirements have been established following the increased presence of FMD in African, Asian, European and South American countries and the occurrence of the disease in countries considered to be FMD-free, meaning that there is a high risk of this emerging disease entering the country through trade in animals and animal products and by-products, and through the influx of persons from countries affected by the disease.
