United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the import of all types of live poultry and wild birds, ornamental birds, hatching eggs, day‑old chicks, and untreated poultry by-products from Latvia

Following the notification published by the World Organisation for Animal Health regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Latvia, the United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Latvia.These measures include:To ban the import of all types of live poultry and wild birds, ornamental birds, hatching eggs, day-old chicks, and untreated poultry by-products from Latvia until the health situation stabilizes;To apply the import mechanism for falcons from high-risk countries to imports from Latvia;To continue allowing the import of heat-treated poultry by-products from Latvia;To continue allowing the export of poultry meat and table eggs that are not heat-treated, using the approved health certificate templates from Latvia.
