Description
Pursuant to Article 14 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, this Law provides the conditions to improve the prevention and protection of animal health; the prevention and control of animal diseases, including zoonotic diseases; the regulation of veterinary diagnostic laboratory services; the regulation of the import and export of animals, animal products, veterinary medicines and biological substances; to ensure the safety and quality of animal products destined for human or animal consumption and commercial purposes; to ensure animal welfare and to improve the economic conditions of farmers, in accordance with international obligations including relevant WTO agreements.
The Law contains a total of four chapters, comprising 26 articles, dealing with:
I. General Provision;
II. Duties and Powers;
III. Conformity of Sanitary Measures with International Standards; and
IV. Final clauses.
