United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Hungary, and imposition of a temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs from Békés and Csongrád, provinces in Hungary

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 4 November 2016 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Békés and Csongrád, Hungary, United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Hungary. These measures include:
1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Hungary;
2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Békés and Csongrád, provinces in Hungary, except heat-treated products; and
3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Békés and Csongrád, Hungary before 28 September 2016 were permitted.
