United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Austria, and imposition of a temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs from Vorarlberg, province in Austria

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 14 November 2016 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Vorarlberg, Austria, United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Austria. These measures include:
1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Austria;
2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Vorarlberg, province in Austria, except heat-treated products; and
3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Vorarlberg, Austria before 20 October 2016 were permitted.
