United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Bulgaria, and imposition of a temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs from Vidin, Vraca, Plovdiv, Jambol, Sofija provinces in Bulgaria

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 23 December 2016 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) in Vidin, Vraca, Plovdiv, Jambol, Sofija provinces in Bulgaria, United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Bulgaria. These measures include:
1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Bulgaria;
2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Vidin, Vraca, Plovdiv, Jambol, Sofija provinces in Bulgaria, except heat-treated products;
3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Vidin, Vraca, Plovdiv, Jambol, Sofija provinces in Bulgaria before 20 November 2016 were permitted.
