United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from the Slovak Republic, and imposition of a temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs from Bratislava province in the Slovak Republic

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 29 December 2016 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) in Bratislava province in the Slovak Republic, United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from the Slovak Republic. These measures include:
1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from the Slovak Republic;
2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Bratislava province in the Slovak Republic, except heat-treated products;
3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Bratislava province in the Slovak Republic before 3 December 2016 were permitted.
