GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods

The GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods, notified on 9 June 2011 as G/SPS/N/QAT/22, describes principles and regulatory requirements to be applied by the exporting country and the importing GCC countries to assure the safety and suitability of imported food. Health certificates for imported food (from animal and plant origins) which include specific attestations are provided in the Guide. The Guide has been modified according to the comments received and the corresponding responses notified in 2012 as G/SPS/N/QAT/22/Add.1, with no further enquiries received. However, this Guide's requirements and health certificates have been reviewed and revised by the GCC Food Safety Committee with a view to facilitating international trade. The attached version has been adopted by all GCC countries. This guide will be implemented on 1 April 2017 and will come into force on 1 October 2017.
