United Arab Emirates is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-product, day-old chicks, hatching eggs from Germany, and imposition of a temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs from Schleswig-Holstein in Germany

Following the notification published by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 25 January 2017 regarding the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus (HPAI) in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, United Arab Emirates is applying a precautionary sanitary measure to prevent the risk of introducing HPAI virus through the imports of live birds and their products from Germany. These measures include:
1. Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their untreated by-products, day-old chicks and hatching eggs originating from Germany;
2. Temporary ban on poultry meat and table eggs and their untreated products from Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, except heat-treated products;
3. Consignments of poultry meat shipped from Schleswig-Holstein in Germany before 1 January 2017 were permitted.
