Amendment to Department of Agriculture (DA) Memorandum Order (MO) No.4, Series of 2017, Entitled "Temporary Ban on the Importation of Domestic and Wild Birds Including Poultry Meat, Day-old Chicks, Eggs, and Semen Originating from Netherlands"

The Department of Agriculture (DA) issued Memorandum Order (MO) No. 16, series of 2017, amending DA MO No. 4, series of 2017, entitled "Temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks and semen originating from Netherlands", which was imposed in view of the occurrence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). DA MO No. 4 took effect on 6 January 2017.This order provides the rationale and the conditions for the amendment of DA MO No. 4, series of 2017, instituting measure granting the request of the meat importers (MIPs) with thermal processing equipment to import mechanically separated meat (MSM) for processing from OIE declared areas free from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) during the past 21 days in the Netherlands.This MO was issued to grant the MIPs request after conducting an evaluation of selected meat processing plants (MPPs) and reported the availability of thermal processing equipment in the facility.http://members.wto.org/crnattachments/2017/SPS/PHL/17_1685_00_e.pdf
