Instrução Normativa 34 (Normative Instruction No. 34)

The notified text acknowledges, for domestic control purposes, that the quarantine pest Sternochetus mangiferae, which is normally absent from Brazilian territory and which is hosted exclusively by the mango plant (Mangifera indica), has been detected in mangoes from non-commercial areas in the municipalities of Paracambi, Río de Janeiro and Seropédica, which form part of the metropolitan region of the city of Rio de Janeiro in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The text declares these municipalities to be prohibited zones and bans the transit of mangoes grown in these municipalities through unaffected areas.
