Description
On 17 December 2020, the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) temporarily suspended import pathways for species of Solanum lycopersicum and Capsicum seeds for sowing of Israel origin, due to detection of Tomato brown rugose fruit virus. This virus is considered a regulated pest by New Zealand.
MPI has now lifted the suspension and reinstated trade on these pathways, as the NPPO of Israel have investigated the reported detections and undertaken actions that provide MPI with sufficient assurance that future imports of tomato and capsicum seeds of Israel origin into New Zealand will be free from Tomato brown rugose fruit virus
