In order to prevent the introduction of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of raw milk and/or un-heated/un-treated milk products from Germany, including those shipped through third countries, on 11 January 2025 based on the "Animal Health Requirements for raw milk and/or milk products to be exported to Japan from Listed countries" and the Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".This is to inform that MAFF has removed Germany from the listed countries.MAFF also moved the list which had been mentioned in the Animal Health Requirements to the MAFF website.

In order to prevent the introduction of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) virus into Japan, MAFF has suspended the import of beef and beef offal from Germany, including those shipped through third countries, on 11 January 2025 based on the "Animal health requirements for beef and beef offal to be exported to Japan from Germany" and the Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control".Based on the Animal Health Requirements established between Japan and each exporting country, facilities that handle cloven-hoofed animals of German origin, as well as their meat and offal, are not permitted to produce or manufacture products to be exported to Japan, and each exporting country must notify Japan of this export suspension immediately.

Revision of the specifications and standards for apparatus, containers, and packaging under the Food Sanitation Act (Act No. 233 of 1947).

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has taken import suspension measures based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and other relevant requirements.

MAFF will designate Isopropyl ester of 2-hydroxy-4-(metylthio) butanoic acid as a feed additive and set the standards and specifications for feed and feed additives to "Ministerial Ordinance on the Specifications and Standards of Feeds and Feed Additives" (Ordinance No. 35 of 24 July 1976 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry).

MAFF designated 3-Nitrooxypropanol as a feed additive and set the standards and specifications for feed and feed additives to "Ministerial Ordinance on the Specifications and Standards of Feeds and Feed Additives" (Ordinance No. 35 of 24 July 1976 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry).

As notified in G/SPS/N/JPN/1274 (dated 28 August 2024), deletion of the use standards for Methyl Cellulose and modification of the storage standards for Dimethyl Dicarbonate came into force on 5 November 2024.

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus from entering Japan, MAFF has taken import suspension measures based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and other relevant requirements.

The revision of this Ministerial Ordinance made it possible to use domestic bovine-MBM, etc.(raw materials of these products do not contain dead animals or Specified Risk Material) in the feeding of horses, pigs, chickens and quail.
