This addendum is issued to modify the product name of “Hybrid organisms of all species of the genus Andrias excluding A. japonicus and A. japonicus (HS code: 0106. 90)” described in Item 3 of notification G/SPS/N/JPN/1258 dated 1 March 2024 as follows: “Any living hybrid organisms of species of the genus Andrias (HS code: 0106. 90)”.

The drafted official compilation of food additives (tenth edition) notified in G/SPS/N/JPN/1200 (dated 3 May 2023) came into force on 6 February 2024.

MAFF amends the standard for method of manufacture and specifications for ingredients of feeds in general stipulated in the “Ministerial Ordinance on the Specifications and Standards of Feeds and Feed Additives” (Ordinance No. 35 of 24 July 1976 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry). The amendment aims to allow the use of Muramidase, which was previously only permitted for broilers, for pigs and chickens as well.

To prevent the introduction of Bactrocera dorsalis species complex and Bactrocera cucurbitae into Japan, MAFF has taken emergency measures to prohibit the import of host plants of Bactrocera dorsalis species complex originated in Azerbaijan and host plants of Bactrocera cucurbitae originated in Iran.Details of the emergency measures are provided in the document attached.

In order to prevent the introduction of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus into Japan, MAFF has taken import suspension measures based on Articles 37 and 44 of the "Act on Domestic Animal Infectious Disease Control" and other relevant requirements.

To designate Bufo reguralis, all species of the genus Andrias excluding A. japonicus, and hybrid organisms of all species of the genus Andrias excluding A. japonicus and A. japonicus as Invasive Alien Species (IAS).
