1. Samples or products with no commercial value or purpose, hereinafter "products", shall be understood to mean all those entering Chile for the following purposes: a) promotional, advertising and tasting purposes, or similar, with a view to the demonstration of their characteristics or properties; b) research, testing, laboratory analysis, field tests, demonstrations, and similar activities; c) veterinary drugs accompanying an application for the registration of pharmaceutical products exclusively for veterinary use or for use when the product is not registered in the country; d) other purposes determined by the Service. 2. The product concerned must be presented in a way that shows it will not be used for commercial purposes, and the quantity, weight, volume, frequency of importation, and characteristics thereof must be consistent with this claim, which will be assessed by the Service on a case-by-case basis. 3. The entry of products will be authorized via the issuing of an import permit, following an assessment of the associated risks. 4. Applications for import permits must be submitted using the official form specified by the Service and include all the information required for the type of product concerned. The form is available on the SAG website. 5. Once all the information required for the import permit has been submitted together with proof of payment, the Service must decide on the application within 10 calendar days. 6. The import permit will be valid for 60 calendar days from the date of issue and may be used only once, unless otherwise indicated. Where permits are requested on a regular basis, it is possible to apply for an extended permit, which will cover the recurrent entry of products throughout the calendar year. 7. The products concerned must be destroyed after use, whether via consumption (tasting), scientific testing, incineration or other means. SAG may request proof that any product remnants have been destroyed. 8. Import permits are not required for the following products: a) purified nucleic acid; b) purified antibodies; c) cytochromes; d) semen extenders; e) enzymes; f) lactic ferments or cultures; g) purified gelatin; h) cell lines; i) culture media; j) plates coated with inactivated antigens; k) beta-propiolactone; l) tissues fixed in formalin; m) fixed histological sections; n) saline solutions; o) animal serum and plasma for research purposes; p) trypsin in its various forms; q) products required by SAG for laboratory testing purposes or other official activities; and r) other products indicated and listed on the SAG website.
1. The notified text establishes phytosanitary requirements for the importation into Chile of in-shell walnuts (Juglans regia) from India. 2. To enter the country, shipments must be covered by an official phytosanitary certificate issued by the phytosanitary authority of the country of origin. This document must declare that: 2.1 The shipment has been fumigated with phosphine at normal atmospheric pressure, in the manner specified in point 3 of the notified text, with a view to controlling Alcidodes porrectirostris (Marshall) (Synonym: Neomecyslobus porrectirostris) (Col.: Curculionidae); and that 2.2 The shipment has been treated to control Trogoderma granarium (Col.: Dermestidae). 3. The following phosphine fumigation treatment will be accepted to ensure the control of Trogoderma granarium (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) and Alcidodes porrectirostris (Marshall) (Synonym: Neomecyslobus porrectirostris) (Col.: Curculionidae) and must be specified in Section III of the phytosanitary certificate, together with the product, dose, exposure time, temperature and date of treatment. PRODUCT: PHOSPHINE (normal atmospheric pressure) DOSE EXPOSURE TIME MINIMUM PRODUCT TEMPERATURE (g PH3/m3) (days) (°C) 9 5 >21°C The fumigation treatment must be supervised by an inspector from the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) and carried out by the NPPO or an entity that has been certified and registered by the DAC&FW. Shipments must be treated no more than a month before they are exported. 4. Once fumigated, shipments must be kept protected while in storage and while being dispatched and transported to Chile. 5. Shipments must be free of soil and other plant remains. 6. Packaging must be new (repackaging is not permitted), closed, resistant to handling, and labelled or marked in accordance with the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) regulations currently in force. 7. The wood used for packaging, pallets and packing materials must comply with quarantine regulations when entering the country. 8. The packaging materials used must allow for potential quarantine treatments to be carried out at points of entry. 9. SAG officials at the authorized port of entry will inspect shipments upon their arrival in Chile, verify their compliance with the relevant phytosanitary requirements, and decide, on the basis of the accompanying documentation, whether their entry should be authorized or whether appropriate measures should be adopted in accordance with existing legislation.
1. The notified text repeals the sanitary recognition of Colombia as free of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) with vaccination, awarded pursuant to Exempt Resolutions No. 5.538 and No. 5.533 of the SAG, which establish FMD-free areas with vaccination, and which together cover the whole of Colombian territory. 2. It provisionally adopts a sanitary measure suspending the importation into Chile from Colombia of chilled and frozen fresh meat of bovine animals processed as of 28 May 2017.

Chile hereby advises that the draft Agriculture and Livestock Service Resolution "Import requirements for viscera meal, meat and bone meal, and oils and fats of poultry, swine and horses", notified on 17 October 2016 by the World Trade Organization in document G/SPS/N/CHL/531, will enter into force on 28 September 2017. The notified measure reads as follows:This text establishes specific health requirements for the entry into Chile of pet rabbits and hares;For the purposes of entering Chile, animals are considered to be pets in the following circumstances:They travel in a group of no more than five animals;They are accompanied by, and travel in the same means of transport as, their owner or the person responsible for them during their journey;They are sent by their owners with a pet transport service;They are acquired abroad with a view to being made pets;They are not to be used for reproduction purposes and/or in commercial transactions, i.e.: sales, transfers of ownership, exhibitions or other lucrative activities;They have been neutered, whether male or female, and have certification to prove this;Health certification:Animals must be covered by an official health certificate, issued by the competent health authority in the country of origin at the time of shipment. The certificate, which must be issued in Spanish and in the official language of the country of origin, must attest to compliance with the relevant health requirements and be in line with the model approved by the Service;Animal origin:4.1.Rabbits and hares entering Chile must have been born and raised in the country or area of origin, or have remained in captivity for at least 60 days prior to export;4.2.No clinical cases of tularemia, myxomatosis or rabbit haemorrhagic disease must have occurred in the area of origin in the 90 days prior to shipment;4.3.Rabbits destined for laboratories must have been raised in barrier colonies; importers must demonstrate their status as research or diagnostic laboratories and meet the requirements that ensure the animals are properly looked after;Pre-shipment isolation:5.1.Animals must have been kept in isolation for 21 days under veterinary surveillance; during this time, there must not have been any reports of clinical signs consistent with Tularemia or other communicable infectious or contagious diseases that affect the species;5.2.During the isolation period, animals must have been treated for internal and external parasites with products of proven efficacy authorized by the competent health authority;5.3.During the isolation period, animals must not have come into direct contact with other animals of the same species, and must have been tested, with negative results, and/or vaccinated or treated, where appropriate, for the following diseases*:5.3.1.**Rabbit haemorrhagic disease: Haemagglutination inhibition test or indirect ELISA or competitive ELISA, or at least two immunizations with an inactivated virus, the most recent immunization having taken place within the six months prior to shipment. The diagnosis date, diagnostic technique or vaccine must be indicated;5.3.2.**Tularemia: PCR;5.3.3.Internal and external parasites: Treatment with broad-spectrum antiparasitics authorized by the competent health authority. The date of treatment must be indicated;5.4.Diagnostic tests must have been conducted in an official laboratory or one recognized by the health authority of the place of origin;5.5.Where the country is free from the above-mentioned diseases, no diagnostic tests will be necessary.* Where animals have been vaccinated, relevant vaccination details must be provided: Date of vaccination, vaccine producer, series number, control number and expiry date.** Diagnostic protocols must be attached.Shipment requirements:6.1.Pet animals must be covered by an official health certificate in Spanish, issued at the time of shipment by the competent health authority of the country of origin, attesting that the shipment meets health requirements and that the animals have been neutered, and indicating the country and address of origin, the name of the owner, pet identification details, the number of animals travelling, the address of their destination, their mode of transportation, and their point of entry into Chile;6.2.On the day they embarked for

Resolution No. 633 of 2003, establishing requirements for the importation into Chile of plant material as in vitro tissue cultures, has been amended as follows:The following species and certifiable plant pathogens have been added to Article 4.3 - Fruit trees: Species: Prunus spinosa. Certifiable plant pathogens: Candidatus Phytoplasma prunorum; Xylella fastidiosa; Little cherry virus; and Plum pox virus.The following species and certifiable plant pathogens have been added to Article 4.3 - Crops and vegetables:Species: Duboisia myoporoides and Duboisia leichhardtii. Chile hereby advises that the Agriculture and Livestock Service Resolution amending Resolution No. 2.677 of 1999 establishing import regulations for grains, seeds and other products for consumption and processing, the draft version of which was notified on 1 September 2016 by the World Trade Organization in document G/SPS/N/CHL/529, was issued on 11 November 2016 pursuant to Resolution No. 6.435 and entered into force upon its publication in the Official Journal on 29 November 2016.
The notified text amends Resolution No. 1.012 of 2004 "establishing phytosanitary requirements for the importation into Chile of cereal seeds", by adding to point 1 of the Resuelvo section, a requirement for the following declaration to be included on the phytosanitary certificate accompanying imports of Triticum aestivum and Triticum durum seed."The consignment is from a nursery that was inspected during the active growth period. Where any symptoms were detected, the nursery was analysed (indicate diagnostic technique) and found to be free from wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV)."The notified Resolution will enter into force for harvested wheat seed on 1 October 2017.
The notified Resolution establishes requirements for the importation of seeds of certain fruit and vegetable crops and aromatic and medicinal plant species. Imports of the seeds concerned must be covered by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the National Plant Protection Organization of the country of origin, which must contain the additional declarations required, if any, for each species.

The proposed text seeks to establish a maximum level for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in hemp-based foods by adding a new article to Paragraph V of Section IV ("Contaminants and residues") of the Chilean Food Health Regulations.Article 170 bis. - The tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of hemp seeds for human consumption and hemp seed-based foods must not exceed 10 mg/kg of food.
The Articles concerned have been amended to take into account technological developments; to give greater consistency to requirements in relation to the risk Chile is seeking to prevent; to bring criteria into line with regulations not applied for the importation of milk products into Chile; and to eliminate generic concepts and requirements not associated with suitability for human consumption.
The notified Resolution amends Resolution No. 2.134 of 6 August 2003 by replacing paragraph 3 of the Resuelvo section with the following text:The list of production sites and packaging establishments registered with the National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) will be sent to SAG before the start of the season, and will be authorized by resolution of the Agricultural and Forestry Protection Division following an evaluation conducted in conjunction with SENASA. The authorization will be valid for one year.
