Deloyala guttata, the mottled tortoise beetle, is a species of tortoise beetle in the family Chrysomelidae. It is found in the Caribbean, Central America, North America, and South America. Larva carry shields made from exuviae and frass on their abdomen that they lift to shield their dorsum from predators.

Morphological Features
Adult. Body length and width not specified. Prothorax broadly explanate, completely covering the head in dorsal view; prothorax immediately laterad to the head grooved for reception of the antennae. Basal margin of each elytron finely crenulate for much of its distance. Elytral disc in dark specimens black, with black extending to anterolateral corners; paler coloration limited to lateral margin behind anterolateral corners and to posterior margin. Intermediately colored specimens have dark area interrupted by pale markings, forming a mottled pattern, and black areas may be lightened to various shades of brown.
