Conicobruchus

Body length moderate, stout (maximum width excluding basal hood / total length = 0.15–0.20), slightly widened apically or not; basal hood moderately widened, concave posteriorly or not. Head, thoracic sternites, and legs black; pronotum and abdomen red or black; elytra black, bright orange, or red with black markings, sometimes entirely black. Pronotum 1.2–1.5 times wider at base than long; sides straight basally, strongly convergent anteriorly, constricted into a distinct neck or not; surface rugose-punctate, with or without white hair spots. Elytral striae thin and narrow; interstriae alternating greyish setose spots with bare areas surrounding large ocellate punctures, producing a checkered pattern. Ventral valve large, subtriangular, bearing apically numerous sensillae and basally two lateral groups of setae. Internal sac lined anteriorly with minute spinules and ctenoid scales, followed by hyaline spicules and tubercles. Apex modified, with two lips; dorsal lip bearing 12–20 long setae, ventral lip densely lined with long setation or short sensillae.
