Adraneothrips is a genus of thrips in the family Phlaeothripidae. The genus has its highest species diversity in the New World, particularly the Neotropics, though species are also known from Asia, Australia and Africa. Many species in Adraneothrips have two-color patterns, and sexual dimorphism is limited. They are associated with leaf litter and other dead leaves, and are presumed mycophagous.

Morphological Features
Head with cheeks slightly constricted behind large eyes; postocular setae usually arise behind inner margin of eyes. Stylets usually about one third of head width apart, retracted to postocular setae. Pronotum with 5 pairs of capitate setae; notopleural sutures incomplete or weakly complete. Tergites II–VII with 2 pairs of wing-retaining setae, each posterior pair usually thicker than anterior pair. Tergite IX with accessory setae between S1 and S2 almost as long as S1. Male sternite VIII with or without pore plate.
